After a treacherous journey on foot, Jenifer and her 10-year-old daughter Lucia find themselves in the small farming town of Hopedale, IL. Hesitant at first to accept “illegals” into their community, Hopedale residents begin to see the reality of Jenifer and Lucia’s situation and are completely transformed as they witness the love and faith of this resilient mother and daughter. We also meet Alejandra, a woman who made the devastating decision to send her two children across the U.S./Mexico border without her, in order to save her son’s life.
